Bricks Quilt-Fabric Choices

So here's THREE ideas for the future brick quilt. I'm working with yardage and fat quarters instead of precuts for this quilt. Again, lots of WHITE sashing planned, slurp!

Shown here are actually plans for three quilts. Each one needs six fabrics plus white sashing.
Left: Terrain by Kate Spain for Moda (might use a layer cake and do 10" blocks)
Middle: Lush by Peggy Young for Michael Miller (yardage)
Right: Pam Kitty Morning by Vieira-McGinnis for Lakeshore Dry Goods (yardage)

Lush was just listed at Hawthorne Threads tonight and I went ahead and ordered, though I'm disappointed they don't have the Tossed Leaves in Raspberry. :( I also need to get into my stash of Terrain and Pam Kitty and see what I actually have. I LOVE Pam Kitty strawberries, but I don't think I really want two if there's only six choices, I may re-think that one. I am SO excited about this design which should turn out as a rectangle. Still working on the exact placement and design.

Disappearing Nine Patch-Ruby by Bonnie and Camille for Moda-Ruby Nine Patch Square

Next in the line up! Ruby by Bonnie & Camille for Moda is simply stunning! The designs and colors draw me in everytime I see it. So it was time to OWN some! I'm going to do this in my soon to be finished "Nine Patch Square" quilt pattern.

Disappearing Nine Patch-Sophie by Chez Moi for Moda-Sophie Nine Patch Square

I LOVE to plan new quilts! And one of my very favorite blocks is the Disappearing Nine Patch! I purchased several Sophie by Chez Moi for Moda Charm Packs and this quilt will use one charm pack (36 out of 44 charms). This quilt will be square with cream sashing like a windowpane-my TWO favorites together (the Disappearing Nine Patch and Windowpanes)!

When planning the Nine Patch, I like to pick something dark and solid for the center. Then I selected the "prettiest" charms for the corners because those won't get cut. The other 4 charms are "bars" and I like those in solids and lights. I can already see two charms I want to swap, but I'll do that later. For now, the charms are stacked with my notes ready for a plastic zippie to be put in the queue. I'll call this quilt (as each quilt must have a name!) "Sophie Nine Patch Square".

Wow, what a wonderful blog! This blog is PACKED with information, I have learned SO much and can't wait to try free motion quilting! I have spent quite a bit of time here and have totally enjoyed getting to know Leah Day at Free Motion Quilting!

I relate to her on many levels, especially how she sets outrageous goals for herself, but doesn't realize it! She set a goal to create 365 new free motion quilt designs in one year and blog each one. You can learn about it here. I'm really grateful for her generous spirit in making all these wonderful videos!

First Quilt Top Finished

I can't decide if I'll sell the quilt top, backing and binding as a kit or finish it myself. I probably should finish it to get the practice at all of this, but I'm ready to move onto my next project. I don't know if I'm in this quilting thing to finish quilts or simply do the piecing or maybe some of both. The fabric selection and design along with sewing the pieces together so far is my favorite part. Couldn't really care about the quilt sandwich EXCEPT I'm really intrigued by free motion quilting and it looks like I can get a darning foot for my new machine.
